Success means different things to different folks

Success is possible to those that believe

Success is one of the often searched words on the internet. A quick search on google and a search for the word “success” will bring up 245,000 search items. The reason why people search for success online is that they desire success. Unfortunately, desire alone is not enough guarantee for you to become successful in life.

Success takes time

Everything in life happens according to our time. Every individual has a specific time for certain things to be accomplished in life. You may look at your friends for example, and keep wondering about the rapid progress they have made in life.

The truth is that everything happens at their own pace. They have their own time and clock and you have yours, so be patient if you desire to become successful in life.

Don’t envy others making progress in life

Jack Ma started Alibaba at age 39. At that age, some of his friends were still struggling to make meaning out of life. Virgin Group was started by Richard Branson when he was 34. That would be considered, a major achievement.

These men achieved success, not because they were looking at their friends and colleagues, but because they intentionally desired success and worked hard towards achieving their goals in life. It all boils down to doing what gives you joy and happiness.

Be happy with little success

Celebrating the little achievements and never getting discouraged is the beginning. Everyone who becomes successful in life started from the very bottom. They never achieved their great accomplishments overnight.

When we are happy with the little success we achieve in life, it opens door to better opportunities. Clinching the bronze medal in the Olympics was a huge achievement for Weightlifter Christine Girard of Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Six years later, Christine became a Gold medalist when Maiya Maneza of Kazakhstan and Svetlana Tsarukaeva of Russia who won Gold and Silver were disqualified for taking banned substances. It may have taken years, but hard work surely pays a huge dividend.

Be consistent and success will show up

Consistency is always synonymous with those who achieve great things in life. No matter how slow the progress may seem, keep moving, and never stop trying. What you consistently pursue and desire will eventually become a reality.

It takes a strong commitment to not only your passion but also your personal life and family life to truly become successful.

Every day

Make every day your best day

How do you feel about your life today?

Are you living every day in excitement?

Do you love what you are doing presently?

Are you looking forward to what is coming up next?

Are you living your best life?

If your answer to any of the above questions is a No, it means you are not living your life to the fullest. You deserve nothing but the best!!

Each day we wake up, what we have before us is a new opportunity, a blank slate that we can fill with whatever we choose. We are in total control of what we achieve each day. Do not be held back by what happened yesterday, the day before, the week before, the year before, or even decades ago rather, live in the present moments.

Do not spend your time trying to be someone that you are not. Work towards becoming who you want to be and stop living your life based on the ideas of other people. Start to take charge of your day and use every minute to better yourself.

There is no need to live a life that you’re not happy about. Nobody is going to get you to the life that you want. It is up to you to work for it and achieve it. It is high time you start living the life that you see every time you close your eyes.

It is never too late to choose your dreams and achieve them. No matter how old you are, it is achievable, as long as you follow your dreams. Never be too comfortable living a life you never wanted.

No matter how bad you might have screwed things up in the past, no matter how far you have gotten from what you want to do, you can always turn things around. With a change of attitude, you can enjoy satisfying, wonderful, and beautiful days by making small changes in your daily life.

It all begins from the very moment you decide to make every day the best day of your life. It’s your life. It is possible to become what you ever dreamed to become in life. You are in charge and you have every right to live it to the fullest!

Ignore the haters

Ignore the haters

Someone once described haters as “people who whisper your success, but broadcast your failure”. They are always there no matter how you try to shake them off. Don’t even attempt to please them, because the more you do, the more they would keep hating on you.

Those who aren’t successful in life, don’t have issues with haters, because they are already down. The focus is always on those who aspire to achieve their dreams and goals in life. The more successful you are in life, the more the hate.

Eight years ago, when I bought my first call, not all my friends were happy with me. Some secretly envied me and with envy came hatred. It got worse when I started making real progress in my career.

How I dealt with haters

I focused on those who are happy to have me around and ignored the haters. This has worked quite well for me, because the more I ignore them, the quicker they disappeared. They realized that I wasn’t ready to take their hate seriously, and so they gave up hating on me.

Don’t get distracted

It is easier to get distracted when people say hurtful words about us. A young lady who was in an abusive relationship and had grown to hate herself shared her experience. “Each day was like hell on earth. I tried all I could to please him, but the more I did, the more he hated me. I felt I was not good enough. At a point, I had to break up with him, when the abuse was affecting me emotionally.

Those were the most difficult periods of my life. I became overweight, as I wasn’t watching my diet anymore. When I left Dave, I did all I could to gain back my confidence. It was a real struggle because I had almost lost everything. My self-worth was all gone. I had zero self-confidence and I was standing at the very edge of a mental breakdown.

Relocating to a new city and finding a new job gave me a fresh lease of life. It was like a heavy burden had been lifted off my fragile shoulder. For once I was getting my groove back and I loved it. The bad energy was all gone and I was able to make new friends.

Two years after, I fell in love with someone whom I refer to as my sunshine. He erased all the hate toxins that David had deposited in me. I realized that life always gives us a second chance to become who we truly want to become in life. Love triumphed over hate and I was the happiest soul that ever lived”

Never pay evil with evil

There is always the temptation to hate those who hate you. Unfortunately, that may not be the right approach. Like Martin Luther, King Jnr said: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that

We must always find a way to forgive those who hate without reason. Love them and always find a place in your heart to forgive them. Hopefully, they would see a reason to stop hating and start loving.

Get Inspired by hate

Some call them haters, but I would prefer to call them motivators. Let the actions of the few that hate you push you to greater heights. Keep using the stone of hate thrown at you, to build a platform that will inspire you towards your goals in life.

On the 14th of October 2019, Bulgaria hosted England in a Euro 2020 Qualifier. The match was almost marred with monkey chants each time England winger Raheem Sterling was on the ball. Raheem refused to allow racial abuse to weigh him down. It rather motivated him to put in his best performance in the color of England. He went ahead to score a brace, as England thumped Bulgaria 6-0.

Be Proud of Your personality

Be proud of who you are

Most of us spend a lot of time thinking about the things we have done wrong.  We keep remembering the mistakes we have made in life and how we have not achieved all the things that we want to achieve in life. We all have decisions we wish we could take back.

Stop blaming yourself all the time for things you had no control over. It is human to make mistakes.  You don’t have to wait for someone else to pat you on the back for what you have done in your life. Always remind yourself of how incredible you are; be proud of being you!

One of the things which we don’t have control over is what others think about us. We live in a society that wants to tear everybody down often but none of us are perfect. Some people always want you to behave in a certain way or act a certain way. If you spend your time worrying about what others think about you, you will never be happy in life.

Never allow the opinion of others to destroy your self-confidence. Your dreams shouldn’t be based on the opinion of others. The opinion of others shouldn’t define your identity. What people think about you shouldn’t  cause any form of instability in your health, marriage, career, academics, relationship, business, etc.

Whatever they say about you is an opinion and nothing else. No one knows you better than you know yourself. No matter how hard you try, you are never going to be someone else so be proud of who you are and live your life.

The number of likes and comments you get on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc does not define who you are and how unique you are. Also, the number of followers or Facebook friends that you have will never define your value in life. Rather, you should be proud of what you’ve been able to accomplish so far. Be proud of the many more amazing things you are going to achieve.

Believe it or not, people will always judge and criticize you no matter what. So be criticized for being the person that you want to be in life, not the person that others want you to be. Be proud of who you are as a person by loving yourself and accepting your imperfection. Be excited about your past; not necessarily of everything you have done( we all have regrets), but of how you have kept going and working hard.

Be proud of every time you have failed. The fact that you have failed means one thing is certain: you have tried! Be happy that you had the guts to try in the first place. Be proud of all those times when you faced difficulties. Trust yourself with the decisions you take in life, focus on the positives, remove any form of negativity from your mind, and just be the person that you want to be.

No amount of approval from somebody else is worth dictating how you should live your life. You are worthy of living the best possible life. It is only one life that you will ever get. I love what Phil Mc Graw said:  “Instead of being ashamed of what you have been through, be proud of what you have overcome!”

When death puts two lovebirds apart

When death puts two lovebirds apart

A Painful experience

Death of a loved one is one of the most painful experiences ever imagined. I could recall when I lost my Dad years back. It took me quite a while to recover from the pain and heartache. He loved me so dearly and always made sure I was happy.

What is even more touching is the sudden death of a spouse. Some find it so hard to deal with the trauma. More than 14 years ago, someone, I knew personally, died after a brief illness. He was so close to the wife. They were like Siamese twins.

The wife struggled to cope with the demise of her husband. Three weeks after the death of her best friend, she fell ill and died also. That’s how tough it is, dealing with the demise of a loved one.

I love poetry so much, and yesterday I saw a very emotional poem about the demise of a loved one. It is a touching tribute. Death indeed can create a vacuum that oftentimes, can never be filled.

If tomorrow starts without me

If tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today. While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me, As much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too; But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand.

And said my place was ready, in heaven far above, And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye, For all my life, I’d always thought, I didn’t want to die.

I had so much to live for, So much left yet to do, it seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad, I thought of all that we had shared, and all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday, Just even for a while, I’d say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized, that this could never be, for emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, From His great golden throne,

He said, “This is eternity and all I’ve promised you.” Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, and since each day is the same way, there’s no longing for the past.

You have been so faithful, So trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things, you knew you shouldn’t do. But you have been forgiven, and now, at last, you’re free. So won’t you come and take my hand, and share my life with me

So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right here, in your heart.”

Strength for the Journey

Death indeed separated two lovebirds and made what would have been a beautiful union end in tears. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, and though sometimes we are helpless, we do wish that we grow old with the one we love.

I once lost a very dear friend to the cold hand of death. I couldn’t believe he was gone until we all went to the morgue to see his corpse. It was an unforgettable experience. Death had dug a huge hollow in my heart.

Omoefe was always cheerful, kind, and gentle. Unfortunately, he fell ill and couldn’t recover. He was just 17. He was extremely talented and blessed with artistry gifts. Death ensured those gifts never so the light of the day.

To those who have lost a loved one, always take solace in the forever love that was shared. The beautiful memories will keep your heart glow and give you strength for the journey.
